No Line Watercolor + Spellbinders New Inked Messages
Hello everyone! I am back with you today, sharing some inspiration using some of the new Spellbinders Inked Messages stamps and dies by Stephanie Low. I am a big fan of Stephanie’s illustrations and always enjoy working with her stamps!
The card that I created for the Spellbinders Special Moments & Inked Messages release hop features 2 of Stephanie’s latest sets; Grow Newer with Me and Rough Waters.
Have you been hopping along the Spellbinders release hop already? If so, you should have arrived from the very-talented, Elena Salo blog!
Using both sets, I stamped the flowers and the anchor onto Strathmore watercolor paper with Barely Beige ink; this ink color is my favorite for no-line watercolor, as it is never visible once you color over it.
To watercolor the images, I used the new Altenew Watercolor palette; these pretty pans of color are so much fun and so conveinient to work with, as they contain 36 hues and shades in a small-sized palette. I used a mix of both simple and detailed coloring techniques on this card; the variety adds a lot of interest. I find it so much fun to play around with multiple styles on a project.
I’ve recently shared some fresh ideas on detailed watercolor, as well as more simple watercoloring. If you want to see some detailed work, check out this video where I added lots of fine detail onto some florals; I broke the process down into easy-to-follow steps.
However, if you want to start something a bit more simple and smaller scaled, I recommend checking out this video I just posted this past weekend, where I added minimal details to some sweet critters in a back-to-school themed card!
After I cut the flowers and the anchor out with the coordinating dies (included in the stamp sets), I layered them onto my blue, water-inspired background. The background is dry embossed with the Hero Arts Crossing Waves stencil onto watercolor paper (using my Spellbinders Platinum machine and the Tan Embossing Mat). After embossing, I added quick strokes of blue watercolor and diluted acrylic paint for some pretty texture. There are some splatters of each medium on the background as well.
Finally, I added some sentiments with the Grow Newer with Me stamp set, along with a sprinkling of sequins. Everything is sitting on a card base I cut from Simon Says Stamp Fog gray cardstock.
I hope this card has inspired you to create with the new Ink Messages collection by Stephanie Low and Spellbinders! Keep on reading for details about the blog hop!
Thanks so much for visiting with me today; I hope you will be coming back again soon for more creative inspiration!
