Glimmer Paste + Shimmer Paint + Stitching + Hop
Happy World Cardmaking Day! I am so excited to be participating as a guest in the Winnie and Walter World Cardmaking Day blog hop! If you have already been hopping along with us, you should have arrived from Laura Sterkx’s blog.
In my card for today, I packed a few techniques that I wanted to do all into one! One of those techniques is incorporating the new Prima Metallic Accents into watercolor. The Metallic Accents shine their best when they are added into – or on top of – traditional watercolors. I added swatches of the Ultraviolet color onto some watercoloring that I did using PH Martin India Inks. The results are SO beautiful… you can best see it by watching the video below.
I then cut the watercolored background from some Winnie and Walter dies; the In A Word Happy and Birthday sets.
Another technique I’ve been wanting to do again is use the Tonic Studios Nuvo Glimmer Paste. One of my favorite glimmer paste colors is Moonstone; this is a clear glimmer paste that looks amazing on both white and colored cardstocks alike. I wanted my sentiment to be the star of the show here, so I chose to work with white cardstock underneath the paste. The fun confetti pattern that I made with the Glimmer Paste is from the Winnie and Walter Spotty stencil.
Finally, the last technique I wanted to include in the card is the addition of stitching detail. Normally I would use stitching dies to create this effect, but I recently got the We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy sewing machine (and I LOVE it!). I used the machine to add pink stitching around the edges of my card. In the video I show you how I did it… I’m not a sewing “expert”, but I have been enjoying incorporating the real stitching details into my cards!
I hope you will check out the video below to see how I created the card!
