Hello and Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, including my own wonderful mom! Today is – as many of you know – the reveal of Simon’s newest monthly card kit! This kit for the month of June is called Blissful and is especially perfect for creating wedding, anniversary and engagement cards.

The technique this card kit is geared towards is watercoloring – and for those of you feeling more adventurous, no-line watercoloring! Simon has included four gorgeous Daniel Smith watercolors in the kit, which are a brand of high-quality artist watercolors. I paired the watercolors and the Floral Bliss stamp set with some pearlized watercolors from Gansai Tambi to create a elegant congratulations card.

To create the pearlized watercolor effect, I first started by stamping the floral cluster image with the Barely Beige ink. Then I used the Daniel Smith watercolors and applied a couple layers of watercoloring to the flowers and leaves, until I was happy with the look.

Next came the fun part – adding the pearlized watercolors. For this I used both the Pearl Colors and Starry Colors palettes from Gansai Tambi. These watercolors are great for watercoloring a full image, but I wanted to use them to create accented areas on my florals. You can see the beautiful, pearlized finish of the watercoloring below…

For additonal pearl effects, I stamped over my finished watercolor image with clear ink. I then heat set some Hero Arts White Satin Pearl embossing powder on top to create a dimensional, pearlized outline of the floral stamp.

To embellish the card, I added a gold heat embossed sentiment and a few new sequins from Pretty Pink Posh (Champagne and Spring Meadow). A final pearl effect included some Nuvo Drops in a gold pearl color on top of the dots of the roses.
