STAMPtember: Neat & Tangled

Hi crafty friends! Today I’m back with a new card to share with you featuring the newest Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember exclusive, Nuts About You!

This set was designed in collaboration with Neat & Tangled, and I adore the super cute images included in this stamp set! It also has coordinating dies as well. So how about some inspiration using this set???

This squirrel just kills me! It’s a total cuteness overload. :)  I wanted to do some Copic coloring, so I stamped him along with the coffee mug and a few of the pumpkins in Simon’s Intense Black ink (this ink is Copic safe, as well as waterproof). The paper I used is different from my normal white cardstock; for this card I used linen cardstock. Linen cardstock has a textured weave to it and I thought this would add a bit of an organic touch to the coloring. I really love the results of coloring on the linen cardstock and I know I’ll be doing this more often now!

The colors I used are as follows:

• squirrel: E11, E13, E15, E39 (along with a bit of YR16 added to the tail), R01, R00, E93, RV63, RV66, V15
• pumpkins: Y35, YR14, YR16, E15, YG21, YG23
• coffee mug: R24, R27, R59, Y32, Y35, E15, E39, W00, W3
• grass: YG21, YG23, YG17, G07, G17

All the images are die cut using the coordinating dies and I layered them onto my background with a combination of foam tape and ATG adhesive.

The background was created by ink blending Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks together. I added water splatters for texture and then heat embossed my sentiment with both gold and white embossing powders. I also die cut the background panel with the Scallop Stitches dies from Simon Says Stamp (just released this STAMPtember!) to add a nice finishing touch to the top and bottom edges of the panel.

My final steps included stamping a tone on tone card base using the Tiny Dots and Hearts background stamp (new from Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember release); I used both Schoolhouse Red cardstock and ink from Simon. And I also tied a bit of May Arts hemp around the card for a little texture and interest.
