STAMPtember: Concord & 9th

Hi friends! I’m back with you today sharing some inspiration using the new Simon Says Stamp and Concord & 9th STAMPtember exclusive, Cozy Christmas!

I love these fun layering pinecone images, designed in the iconic Concord & 9th style. There are also a few fun sentiments included in the set that have a nice, basic font. I love basic fonts because they match with everything!

For my card today, I used the outline image of the pinecones to create a gorgeous watercolor background in some wintry colors. But I didn’t just stamp the images onto my paper and watercolor them in… you definitely could, but I wanted to create something a bit more dimensional, so I heat embossed the pinecones onto watercolor paper with a pearl embossing powder. I colored them in with my Zig Clean Color markers (Beige 072 and Mid Brown 065) and then fussy cut each pinecone out with my Cutter Bee scissors.

I worked on the blue background that will be behind the pinecones next; for this I used the Light Blue (036) Zig Marker and scribbled color randomly across the watercolor paper. For this, you really don’t need much color because we are going to let the water do the work for us. I used my Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer to spritz water (quite heavily) onto my scribbled background. I heat set the paper to create some cool drying effects and then added a bit more texture. For the texture, I flicked on droplets of Tim Holtz Distress Sprays in Picket Fence and Antiqued Bronze. I also heat embossed my sentiment, which is also from the Cozy Christmas stamp set.

I layered my pinecones onto the background with a mixture of foam tape and regular adhesive. This created a bit of variation to the depth of field, allowing some of the pinecones to appear as if they were further back and others closer towards you.

The background is layered onto some Schoolhouse Red cardstock and then popped up onto a white shimmer card base, which was created with the new Simon Says Stamp Glimmery Cardstock. I LOVE the new shimmer cardstocks from Simon (they were revealed as part of the new STAMPtember release) and my favorite color is this Glimmery White Diamond cardstock because it is the perfect shimmery-white cardstock. These are not glitter papers, but rather have a metallic-styled shimmer to them. Really pretty! You can see all the new colors HERE.

My final bit of embellishing on this card was adding in some Nuvo Crystal Drops in the Rhubarb Crumble color, and I also tied some bakers twine at the top of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this look at the newest exclusive from Simon Says Stamp! Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with me today!
