Newton’s Nook Reveal Day #2
Hello everyone! Thanks so much for stopping back for the second day of the Newton’s Nook May release week! Today we are revealing the brand new Adventure Awaits stamp set, as well as the Points & Plumes and Splendid Stags die sets!
For my card, I used the Adventure Awaits stamp set and the Points and Plumes dies. The die set is not a coordinating set, but is designed to match with the style of the Adventure Awaits stamp set.
I wanted to create a watercolor background for my card and decided to use the feathers from the Adventure Awaits stamp set to resist the watercoloring (done with Distress Inks). I used multiple layers of Tattered Rose, Dusty Concord, Milled Lavender, Worn Lipstick and Brushed Corduroy. To do this I would apply one color in an area on the paper and then dry it completely before adding a new color. This kept wet colors from bleeding into each other more than I wanted them to, giving me more control over this freestyle background. I love how layering the watercolors creates new colors in between each overlapping layer!
Putting my card together, I clustered the sentiment with some cream circle loops (from Simon Says Stamp), and two arrows from Point and Plumes (Newton’s Nook). I also scattered a bunch of sequins and beads from 28 Lilac Lane onto the card panel to tell finish things off.
