Combining Stamp Sets

Hello there, thanks so much for stopping by! I am sharing a card today using stamps from Newton’s Nook Designs, as part of a collaboration with one of my dearest friends, Ellen Haxelmans.

Ellen and I met back in December of 2014 in a design team that we were both part of at the time, and we quickly became great friends. Even though we live thousands of miles apart (her in Belgium, me in the United States), we make the most of the distance and have crafty meet ups on Skype! Online video chatting is a great way to be able to craft with your friends when you cannot be together in person.

During one of our recent Skype crafty dates, we decided to each make a card featuring the Newton Loves Coffee stamp set and see what we each came up with… I’m so excited to see what Ellen has created (we don’t know what each other made prior to posting today) and I hope you’ll go check out her blog with me to see her creation! Ellen is super talented and I encourage you to follow her blog if you don’t already. She is a true sweetheart and I love her!

So let me tell you about how I created my card…

I used the Newton Loves Coffee stamp set (by Newton’s Nook Designs) along with the super cute Newton Dreams of Paris set. I stamped the critters and other images onto white cardstock and colored them with Copics. I have the colors broken down below and also linked over to Simon Says Stamp in the products section of this post (scroll down to the end).

  • Eiffel tower: C00, C1, C3, Y21, Y0000
  • coffee cup: W00, W1, W3, C3, C5, C7, Y0000, Y21
  • brown kitty: E35, E57, E47, E77, R20, E31, R05, R27, R59, B45, B95, B97
  • gray and white kitty: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, R05, R27, R59, RV10, RV13, RV85, R20
  • grass: YG06, YG05, G07, G28

After coloring all the images, I added details with a white pen and fussy cut them all out using fine tip scissors.

For the card base, I wanted to have a coordinating coffee themed background, so I took a few images from the Newton Loves Coffee stamp set and some Altenew Dark Chocolate dye ink and stamped some custom paper; the card base is created from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock.

I layered my critters onto my card base with a couple colored cardstock and pattern paper pieces and stamped a sentiment from the Newton Loves Coffee set with Altenew Dark Chocolate and Hero Arts Navy dye inks.

Be sure to head on over to Ellen’s blog to see what she made as part of our crafty collaboration! Thanks for stopping by to visit… see you again soon!
