25 Tags of Christmas with Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday! Thanks so much for stopping by today, as I am here with a tag to share with you featuring products from Newton’s Nook Designs! This post is part of the 25 Tags of Christmas event, hosted by the lovely Tracy McNeely!

For those of you unfamiliar with the 25 Tags of Christmas event, it is an annual, month long blog hop featuring 25 different companies in the crafting community each day. The companies have some of their design team members create tags featuring their products, and its a lot of fun for everyone to see all the beautiful inspiration at each stop along the hop!

So today I have used the adorable Newton’s Curious Christmas stamp set on my tag to create a magical night scene of Newton watching for Santa up on a rooftop (seriously, could it get any cuter than that???)!

I colored my images with Copic markers on white cardstock. For my coloring I used: W9, W7, W5, W3, W1, Y18, YR31 for Newton; Y000, YR31, Y18, W3, W5 for the moon; and R27, RV69, RV99 for the rooftop. Once the images were colored, I simply fussy cut them out using fine tip scissors.

I made the background of my tag using Tim Holtz distress inks (Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet); some splatters were created by flicking water onto the ink blended background.

After I dried everything, I embossed stars from the stamp set using three colors of Ranger embossing powder (Silver, Gold and Enchanted Gold). With a white gel pen I drew some dots in the sky to fill it in a bit more and add some depth.

Finally, I embossed a sentiment (also from the Newton’s Curious Christmas stamp set) onto some vellum and fussy cut it out.

I love how fun it is to create little scenes for your cards and tags; you can go very simple like I did here, or you can go a bit more elaborate and create some really cool scenes using lots of different elements.
