Lawnscaping Challenge #113 – Texture

Hello, I am so glad you’ve stopped by! Today I am happy to announce that I am guesting over at the Lawnscaping challenge blog for their two September challenges! I love adorable and whimsical Lawn Fawn stamps and dies; they always make me smile. :)

Today’s challenge is all about adding texture to your cards and projects, and the sponsor for this week is Ellen Hutson! For my card, I’ve chosen to feature the adorable So Jelly stamp set in a underwater shaker card.

I started off by stamping the jellyfish onto some white cardstock, along with some seaweed from the Newton’s Nook Tranquil Tides stamp set. I colored the images with my Copics and then fussy cut them out. I applied Wink of Stella glitter to both the seaweed and the jellyfish, and I adding a coating of Glossy Accents overtop the jellyfish for some extra dimension and shine.

To make the background of my shaker, I did some ink blending using distress inks; Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, and Dusty Concord. I added water splatters overtop the ink as well, for a more watery look. My shaker is filled with sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and Lucy’s Little Things and some clear window plastic was attached overtop..

On top of the window plastic, I added my sand (die cut from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ovals dies), my seaweed, jellyfish and sentiment (also from the So Jelly stamp set). I then layered my main panel overtop (die cut from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies), which has a tweed pattern on it created with a stencil and texture paste. Finally, a scalloped frame was added on top and my panels adhered to my card base.

I love how this ended up turning out! The jellyfish is just too cute, and I really liked how the colors paired together. I hope you will be joining in on the Lawnscaping challenges Texture challenge… I cannot wait to see what you create with this week’s cue!
