Falling Flowers Shaker Card

Hello everyone! So glad you’ve stopped by, as we have a new challenge going on over at the Lia Stampz blog this week, featuring lots of flowery goodness!

When thinking about what I wanted to create for my project for this challenge, I immediately thought it would be a lot of fun to have some flowers falling from the sky… and a shaker card proved to be the perfect way to do this! For my card, I’ve use the Little Ana digi stamp, which is available for purchase at the Lia Stampz shop.

Ana is colored with Derwent pencils, on multiple layers of cardstock to create a more dimensional feel. The base layer is made from white cardstock and fussy cut to leave a slight white border around her.

I also printed out her flower headband multiple times, coloring and fussy cutting the flowers from it to adhere to my card later on.

My card base is 4 1/4″ square, made from watercolor paper, as this is going to have a lot of layers on it and I wanted something sturdy for the base layer.

The front panel of my shaker card is created from a piece of vellum and cardstock (both 4″ square), adhered together. I die cut a circle in the middle of the panel using a Spellbinders Nested Circles die set. Next, with a polka dot stencil and Ranger texture paste, I added a polka dot design to the panel and set it aside to dry.

The background “sky” of my shaker is watercolored with some Peacock Feathers distress ink, and I also heat embossed some white clouds using the Simon Says Stamp Soaring for You stamp set. I adhered three of my loose, fussy cut flowers to the sky and drew some dot trails following behind each one to make them appear as if they are falling. The shaker material inside is some Delphinium Blue Flower Soft material.

I die cut a scalloped circle frame and adhered this to the panel around the circle window, and adhered little Ana and some grass to the front of the panel. The grass is watercolored using Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss distress inks, and fussy cut into a sloped hill. I also adhered some more loose flowers to the grass, around Ana’s feet.

Finally, to finish off my card, I added some faux stitching details, tied on some ribbon, and adhered my shaker panel to my card base.
