Getting Sketchy

Hello Everyone!

So glad you’ve stopped by! Today is the beginning of another challenge over at LiaStampz, and this week the theme is “Anything Goes” … I do hope you’ll stop by and join us! If you are new to the LiaStampz challenge blog, everyone is welcome to enter and the use of LiaStampz digi stamps are not required, though strongly encouraged. For my card, I’ve used the Mice In Love digi set, which includes the “Girl with Balloon” stamp. I really love how sweet this little mouse is, and thought it would be great to turn her into a birthday card! Taking her into a photo editor (any simple photo editor will work for this), I removed the balloon from the digi using an eraser tool, making sure to keeping the balloon knot intact. I then printed her out onto a piece of cardstock, which I trimmed down to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel.

With a pencil, I sketched out the balloon, present and sentiment onto my panel, going over all my sketch lines with a black multiliner. Because I was going for a more “sketchy” look with my lines, I left a variation to the thickness of the lines. The word “happy” is from the Sweet Stamp Shop’s “Happy Hour” set and is stamped in StazOn Jet Black ink. With some watercolor pencils and a Dove blender pen, I then added all my color and shading to my scene.

The edges of my panel are inked with some Peacock Feathers distress inks. With a Heidi Swapp polka dot stencil, and some more distress inks (Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick and Peacock Feathers), I added a bokeh style pattern in the background for a bit of added interest.

Finally, I layered the panel onto my A2 sized card base with some foam tape, and applied some Wink of Stella clear glitter to the present’s ribbon, the edges of the balloon, the bokeh dots, and to the shadow’s of the little mouse girl.
