Friendship Fuzzies
Hello! Happy Thursday!
Today I am playing around with the sketch over at the Lawnscaping challenge blog, and thought I’d share how I created my card…
The theme I chose for my card is friendship, and I thought pairing the fox and skunk from the Into the Woods stamp set from Lawn Fawn, would be a great way to achieve this! I began by stamping the critters onto some cardstock using Memento black ink, and I then colored them with Copic markers. For the skunk I used C1, C3, C5 and C7, and for the fox I used R02, YR04, and YR07. I also added a bit of pink (R20) and colorless blender to each critter as well. I fussy cut the images out, and applied Glossy Accents to their eyes and noses for a bit of extra dimension.
My background of my card base is created with a lot of colored texture paste and in a very loose or “impressionistic” style…
I created the sky with the Memory Box Starry Nights stencil and the texture paste was applied in a slight ombre style… first a coat of paste mixed with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink, and then a coat along the top portion of the stars using paste colored with Wild Honey.
Once the sky was dry, the grass was created in the same fashion, switching the stencil out for the Hero Arts Tweed Pattern, and the paste was mixed first with Mowed Lawn and then some Peeled Paint.
While the card base was drying, I created the moon using a circle I had die cut from white cardstock and inked with a bit of Peacock Feathers distress ink. I applied the paste over the circle, danced my fingers around the paste-covered circle to create craters (messy, but fun!), and then set it aside to dry. Once dry, I added a bit of Iced Spruce distress ink inside the “craters” for a bit of shadowing, and randomly dabbed Wink of Stella around the moon for a bit of shimmer.
Once my moon was attached to the card base, I layered the critters overtop with some foam tape, along with an enamel heart. I then created a sentiment banner from black cardstock, stamping and heat embossing the sentiment “sending warm fuzzies” from the Hero Arts Everyday Sayings stamp set. Finally, I added a bit more Wink of Stella to the stars in the sky, and that completed my card!
I love the loose and open feel of the background on this card; it allows your mind to fill in the blanks and let the critters take center stage in the design!
Thanks so much for stopping by… it always makes my day to know you enjoyed your visit to my little crafty world! :)
