How Old?
Hello! I am back to share a fun, rainbow-ombre birthday card, which was inspired by the new ombre ink pads that are becoming extremely popular right now.
Since I do not have any of the ‘ombre’ ink pads, I thought I would try to achieve the same effect using my regular ink pads. I chose a chevron background stamp from Heidi Swapp and starting at the top, I worked my way down through the rainbow; pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. I ended up trimming the panel later on as I was designing the card, so I lost the purple, but I still like how it turned out! :)
Once my background was stamped, I took a sentiment from the Birthdays 4 Subways set from the Stamps of Life and stamped it in black ink, and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I just love the sentiment and the bold font stands off the background beautifully. The background panel is layered onto a white cardstock panel and attached to the card base with foam tape.
The present on my card is a stamp from the Birthday Wishes collection by Pebbles, and I stamped it onto some white cardstock twice. I inked one of the presents with Wild Honey distress ink and drew on some polka dots with a paint pen; I then fussy cut the package only.
The second present I did not color, but simply fussy out, leaving a slight white border around it. I then adhered the two packages together to create my own little embellishment. For some extra shine and dimension, I also applied a coating of Wink of Stella glitter and Glossy Accents over the yellow package.
To finish things off, I adhered the present to my card with some foam tape, and scattered some sequins and gems around as well.
I hope you’ve enjoyed and that this has inspired you to try out an ombre stamping of your own using the inks you already have in your stash! Thanks for stopping by! :)
