Lots of Love
Happy Friday! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by today!
I love the color yellow… it’s so happy and cheerful, and its vibrancy brings warmth to a room. In this card I have to share with you, I’ve used a palette of yellows, grays and blacks to create this modern and sophisticated hello card.
I began by cutting two watercolor panels; one at 4″ by 5 1/4″, and the other at 2 7/8″ by 3 15/16″. I lightly adhered the smaller panel to the center of the larger panel before starting my stamping.
Taking the Simon Says Stamp/Mama Elephant “Summer Garden” stamp set, I stamped my design in StazOn Jet Black ink; I used all three large flowers, and two of the leaf images. I stamped and silver embossed the word ‘hello’ using the Lawn Fawn “Milo’s ABCs” set and stamped in black the ‘lots of love’ using the Simon Says Stamp “Sending Happy Thoughts” set
With the two panels still adhered, I took some Heidi Swapp Mustard color shine and some Dew Drop Sunflower Yellow pigment ink to create ink splatters. I then took the yellow ink pad and lightly swiped color across all of the flowers and some of the leaves, just to add the suggestion of color. I covered all the yellow “colored” areas with Wink of Stella clear glitter. After all this was done, I detached the two panels, drew simple frames around the edges with a pencil and inked the edges both with black ink.
Getting ready to put my card together, I cut two more cardstock panels at the same dimensions as the small watercolor panel; one is from some yellow cardstock and the other from gray cardstock. I layered the yellow panel directly to the watercolor panel, and then attached both pieces to the gray piece with foam tape. Both panels are layered offset from the watercolor panel, to lend to the ‘modern’ feel.
Cutting an A2 card base from gray cardstock, I attached the larger watercolor panel to the card base and tied a black sheer ribbon around the bottom portion. I then adhered the other panels to the center with some more foam tape. To finish everything off, I applied a bit of Wink of Stella clear glitter to the gray card base, and the yellow and gray cardstock panels.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card! I had a lot of fun creating it, and I hope its inspired you to create something cheery of your own. Happy creating!
Inspiration & Challenges
The layout of this card was inspired by the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #114, and is submitted into the challenge.
The pairing of black and gray with the yellow was inspired by the Cure for the Monday Blues challenge #46 “Rise and Shine”. I’ve submitted the card into this challenge as well.
I’ve also submitted this card into the Simon Says Stamp “B is for…” Monday challenge, as in this card, “b” is for black!
