Paper Smooches Shaped Card
Hello everyone, thanks so much for stopping by. Today I have a cute shaped card to share with you, inspired by the Cupcakes Inspiration challenge #299! I loved the colors in the cupcakes, and since each cupcake features a round icing shape, I thought I would use that as the shape of my card base.
I really liked the “love” digi stamp from Paper Smooches, and thought it would be fun to create a die cut from it. I imported the file into my Silhouette Studio and traced the image to create cut lines. I then resized it to a width of 3 1/2″, and cut it from white cardstock with my Cameo. I heat embossed it with some white glitter embossing powder to give it a bit of sparkle.
While I had my Silhouette Studio open, I also created my circle card base (two circles, sized at 5 1/4″), and my main circle panel, (4 1/2″). I put the card together by scoring a fold 1/2″ down from the top and adhering it to the front circle.
I cut some patterned paper from the American Crafts “With Love” paper collection to cover my card base, and also a scalloped piece of pink cardstock to layer behind my circle panel, as well as an orange scalloped strip to layer on the card.
I wanted to create some clouds on my main circle panel, so on a piece of scratch cardstock, I sketched a loose cloud shape and then trimmed it out to use as a mask. With some Peacock Feathers distress ink and my mask, I inked some clouds onto the circle in a random fashion. To add a bit of interest, I mixed up some Perfect Pearls with some water and flick it across my panel to create shimmery water spots.
I then used some strategic stamping to stamp the sentiment using the Simon Says Stamp “Soaring for You” set. I also used some pink and silver inks to stamp the tiny hearts randomly along where my main elements were going to be; the hearts I used are also included in the “Soaring for You” stamp set.
With some patterned papers and the heart balloon die from the Paper Smooches “Balloons” wise dies, I created three little balloons, and tied some white thread around the ends of each one. I then tied those three ‘balloon strings’ around my ‘love’ die cut.
Now I began putting my card together…
I adhered the ‘love’ die cut to the cloud circle panel with matte adhesive, and attached the balloons with some foam tape. I then layered this onto my scalloped circle, and then adhered the entire piece to my card base with some more foam tape.
For some finishing touches, I tied a purple ribbon around the bottom portion of the card, added some faux stitching around the edges of the card, and covered the balloons with some Wink of Stella clear glitter.
I love how these colors paired so well together… and the balloons look so cute carrying the little love word through the sunny sky! I hope this has inspired you to create a shaped card of your own, and perhaps turn some of your digi stamps into creative die cuts!
Thanks for stopping by!
