Elephant Birthday Wishes
Hello Everyone!
So glad you’ve stopped by today, as I am sharing a fun birthday card featuring a sweet, elephant Silhouette cut file, that I thought was SO adorable! :)
The cut file I used for this card is the “Valentine Elephant” by Erin Doran. Even though it is a Valentine’s Day cut file, I loved how the elephant looked, and thought it would be perfect for the birthday card I had in mind.
I began by die cutting a circle inside my A2 sized card base, and stamping my sentiment using two Simon Says Stamp stamp sets; “Sending Happy Thoughts” and “Celebrate“. Both are stamped in black dye ink, and the “birthday” portion of the sentiment is embossed with clear emobssing powder.
The elephant is cut out with a few different teal patterned papers, using my Silhouette Cameo. I paper pieced the elephant together, adding shading, highlights and features with a mixture of mediums; Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue dye ink and an ink blending foam, teal and pink colored pencils, and a white gel pen. I detached the feet of the elephant from the original die cut, and attached them in front of the elephants face, to make him appear as if he is peeking out from behind the circle.
A piece of yellow patterned paper is adhered behind the elephant with foam tape, to add dimension. I also cut a strip of orange and white striped paper and punched a scallop edge using the Fiskars “Scallop Sentiment” punch.
The balloon is die cut using the Simon Says Stamp “Celebration Time” wafer die set and some green polka dot patterned paper. I also die cut the balloon a second time from some white cardstock, to keep the balloon from warping when I applied Glossy Accents over it. Before I added the Glossy Accents however, I tied a length of gray and white baker’s twine around the end of the balloon and tied that to the elephant’s trunk. I also covered the polka dots with Wink of Stella clear glitter for some extra shimmer. I also applied Wink of Stella to the orange stripes of the patterned paper on the left side of the card.
For a finishing touch, I added some white faux stitching around the entire card, as well as around the die cut circle. I also created a custom matching envelope, using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board, some orange polka dot paper, the Simon Says Stamp “Celebrate” stamps, and the Simon Says Stamp “Celebration Time” wafer dies.
I hope you’ve enjoyed… Thank you so much for stopping by today! :)
