Hello Sunshine

Hello Sunshine_2

Happy Thursday everyone! So glad you’ve stopped by today!

I was inspired by this week’s sketch challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch to create this one layer “hello” card. I thought it would be really fun to make a sun in the corner of the card, with rays coming out from it… and since the theme of the month is love, what better shape for the sun than a heart! :)

I have a video tutorial below on how I created this card, so be sure to watch and give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed!

Some tips…

When using masking tape on your projects, I’ve found it is helpful to adhere it first to your table or craft mat to wear off some of the adhesive, and then adhere it to your project…. this helps prevent your paper tearing when peeling it off later on.

Also, when peeling the tape off your paper, be sure to always peel it back slowly!

Inking is a lot of fun, but not so fun when you have a dark spot of ink where you don’t want it! To keep your ink blending even, apply a consistent light pressure, and work in a circular motion, starting off your card and working in.

I applied the Wink of Stella glitter to my heart image by brushing the glitter onto my finger and rubbing my glitter covered finger around the edges of the heart in a circular motion. I did this because the heart is heavily inked, and distress inks will react to a wet medium. Applying the glitter to my finger allowed me to brush the glitter on, but kept my heart’s ink coverage smooth.

Challenges

This card is submitted into the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #110, the Runway Inspired challenge #77, and the Muse challenge #104.

Nina!!! I’m always like, I’m going to see what she made today, & than I’m oe’ing and aah’ing behind the screen. You make a lot pretty cards. What do you do with all your cards?? Do you sell them? :)

Ellen you are so, so sweet! I do sell some, but most of them I give away to friends and family. Every month, I also put together a box of cards for my great-grandmother who lives in Vermont, as she loves using them to send to her friends… and it works great for me because it lets me do something with all the cards! Amazing how fast they pile up! :)

I love your heart shaped sun and the Rays radiating from it are brilliant! The pretty blue sunshine die adds a beautiful pop of colour. Great tips too, especially for the WOS application! Thanks for sharing.
