Stamps, Shapes and Food
Hello again Everyone!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always loved a good “play on words”… something about all those fun sayings makes me laugh! :)
So today I have two cards to share with you, each featuring a fun “play on words” and food (talk about a great combo!).
First up, I have this grape cluster shaped card, which I created using the Paper Smooches “Berry” digi stamp. I created the card inside my Silhouette Studio by tracing the shape with my trace tool and resizing it to 5″ wide.
The grapes are made with patterned paper from the Craft Smith “Blackberry Lemon” paper pad and the edges of the paper are inked with Dusty Concord distress ink. The leaves are made from a green plaid paper from the Recollections “Bright and Basic” 6×6 paper pad and edged with Mowed Lawn distress ink, while the stem is created from some kraft cardstock and edged in Tea Dye ink.
I cut a banner out of some vellum and stamped it with the “thanks” sentiment from the Paper Smooches “Scripty Sayings” stamp set. I covered all the grapes and the leaves with some Wink of Stella glitter and scattered some sequins and gems around the card for some added interest.
On the inside, I added my “play on words” by stamping and writing the word “so very grapeful”. The “s very” is stamped using the “Tiny Alphabet” set by Stampendous, and the “grapeful” is written in my own handwriting with a black multiliner.
And somehow, it always seems grapes go with cheese! :) For this next card, I’ve chosen the Newton’s Nook “Just Say Cheese” stamp set to create a clean and simple friendship card.
Stamping the heart cheese wedge onto some watercolor paper, I colored it in with Tim Holtz distress inks; Wild Honey and Antique Linen. I then fussy cut the image out and adhered it to my background panel, made with some patterned paper from the My Mind’s Eye “Follow Your Heart” 6×6 pad. I also added some flecks of Heidi Swapp’s Mint Color Shine and white faux stitching.
The sentiment is from the Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings” stamp set, and is stamped in StazOn Jet Black ink.
The background panel is adhered onto my card base with foam tape, and layered with some gray cardstock. A yellow ribbon (which matched the Wild Honey ink so perfectly!), is tied in a knot around the card.
On the inside once again, I added a bit of play on words… while this isn’t brie cheese on the card, I thought it fit the cheese-theme of this card nicely. The “you’ll brie mine” is selectively stamped with the “Just Say Cheese” set, heart is from the Simon Says Stamp “Married” stamp set. The word “forever is written out with a black multiliner.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little fun post, and hopefully these have inspired you to create some play on word cards of your own! Thanks for stopping by! :)
