Birthday, Birthday, Birthday!
Hello Everyone!
I’m back today to share with you some more birthday inspiration… I’ve been on a bit of a birthday/celebrations kick lately!
For my first card, I was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch over at the Sweetest Thing blog. The design of the sketch features a bit of a “sweet spot” in the upper left area, while the rest of the card is open.
I absolutely love the “Birthday 4 Subway” stamp set by the Stamps of Life. It is a background stamp with birthday sentiments written in various fonts… cut them apart and you have ten individual sentiments that can be used on a bunch of cards!
The card features a few different patterned papers from the Craft Smith “Hip Tots” collection and are layered behind a banner that holds the “sweet spot” of the sketch.
I stamped the sentiment on a vellum banner and heat embossed it with white embossing powder before layering it atop of two more banners, each slightly bigger than the one on top of it.
I embossed a piece of cardstock with gold tinsel embossing powder before punching out a few stars, which I then scattered about around the banners along with some pearls. I also covered all the numbers on the kraft patterned paper with some Wink of Stella glitter and added a bit of faux stitching around the card.
I love how well the “you are how old?” sentiment pairs with the numbers on the patterned paper! Totally fun, and perfect for any birthday of any age.
Next, I created this bright balloon card fit for a 10th birthday, 10th anniversary… or a 10th anything! :) The layout of this card was created using the latest Mojo Monday sketch.
Flipping the sketch upside down, I first created the watercolor background behind the balloons. Using only Wild Honey, Peacock Feathers and Festive Berries distress inks, I let the colors mix together. I love how when the colors meet, they create whole new shades and tones. So much fun!! :)
Once my background was created, I die cut the balloons out of patterned paper from the same Craft Smith “Hip Tots” collection using the Simon Says Stamp “Celebration Time” die set. The number ten is die cut using my Silhouette Cameo.
With Versamark ink I stamped the sentiment from the Stamps of Life “Birthday 4 Subways” set and the balloon strings from the Simon Says Stamp “Celebrate” set before embossing with white powder. I then took the balloon strings stamp once more and stamped it in a continuous frame around the card with some Wild Honey distress ink.
Finally, to finish the card off, some Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents were added to my balloons, and underneath the sentiment I adhered some clear rhinestones.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorials, and that you’ll be stopping by again tomorrow for a new Workshop Wednesday!
Happy Creating!
