Partial Cut Snowflakes
Happy Thursday! Can you believe we are now a week until Christmas?!
I’m back again today to share with you all a technique that I call partial cutting, and can be easily replicated with any die cut or electronic cutting machine… I created mine with my Silhouette Cameo. You can use pretty much any shape for this technique; for my card today I chose some snowflakes by Sophie Gallo, which are available at the Silhouette Online Store.
To see how I built this card in my Silhouette Studio, I have a special video for you today which shows the steps I took to create the snowflake panel featured on my card… I hope you enjoy it!
After sketching out the sentiment with a brown sketch pen, I heat embossed the sentiment with copper embossing powder.
The snowflake panel was cut using a sheet of snowflake patterned paper from the “Christmas Made” 12×12 paper pad by DCWV, and is adhered to my card using dimensional foam tape; the candy cane stripe paper from the “Merry & Bright” 6×6 paper pad by Pink Paislee, is layered behind. Both papers were edged with brown ink prior to adhering to the paper.
I scattered some mini gold and copper rhinestones around the white space of the card to add some interest, and covered all the snowflakes in the patterned paper with glitter glue. I also added some faux stitching with a white gel pen and tied a 1/4″ white satin ribbon into a bow around the card.
Inspiration:
The colors of this card were inspired by the color palette for this week’s ColourQ Challenge over at ColourQ’s blog.
This card is also featured in CASology’s CAS Snow challenge.
