Workshop Wednesday: Holiday Cards

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge BlogHello Everyone!

Today is Wednesday, which means another Wednesday Challenge over at Simon Say’s Stamp! The theme for this week’s challenge is “Christmas/Holiday”… and since Stampendous products are the showcase item for the the week, I am participating in the challenge with this wreath card that I created using a Stampendous product. If you haven’t checked out the challenge yet, head on over to Simon Says Stamp’s blog to join in the fun!

And because it is Wednesday, this means it is Workshop Wednesday here at Nina-Marie Design blog! For today’s workshop I have three cards I will be featuring, all of which use a Stampendous product or two. So lets get to the cards!

First up is the card that I am submitting into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge… The wreath is a Silhouette sketch design that I sketched out onto watercolor paper and then painted with Tim Holtz distress inks. All the gold embossing was done with Stampedous’ detail gold embossing powder. A die cut heart covered in glitter and coated in Glossy Accents, was then hung from the wreath as an extra touch… and it looks adorable “swinging” from the wreath! :)

WednesdayWorkshop_Holiday Cards_10Next we have this “Joy” card, in which I used many layers to achieve the finished look. The card base, the patterned paper, the scalloped paper strip and the scalloped circle behind the chalkboard tag, all have gold embossed edging, again using the Stampendous detail embossing powder. The tag is the “Chalkboard Christmas” gift tags printable from World Label, where you can find many free label templates. I embellished the tag with mini gemstones, and then “sprinkled” those mini gemstones around the vellum paper behind the tag.

WednesdayWorkshop_Holiday Cards_1The final card I have in the Workshop for today is a snowflake card that I used a lot of gold embossing powders on! The snowflake is a SVG file that can be used with your Silhouette machine and is available for free at SVG Cuts… a great site that has lots of neat SVG files available for purchase, as well as a library of free designs. The gold paper behind the patterned paper is actually cardstock that I heat emobssed with the Stampendous gold detail embossing powder. After heat setting that powder, I then went a step further and embossed again; this time only on the edges of the paper. For the edges I used Recollections’ tinsel gold embossing powder… this created an extra bit of shine to the embossed paper and looks great twinkling in the light. The snowflake is also embossed in the tinsel powder. A little hemp bow at the top tied in the rustic feel of the paper and helps finish off the card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Workshop Wednesday! I’ve put together a small slideshow for you to get a more detailed look at today’s cards. Happy Wednesday!
