Lamination Sheets for Frosted Window Cards + Hop!

If the video does not display, please click here to watch on my YouTube channel.
This post is part of a special blog hop Simon Says Stamp is hosting for their Holly Jolly release! You can find details for the hop at the bottom of this post.

I have often used clear elements on my cards for windows even a clear card or two! However, I think this project is my new, favorite way to incorporate a clear panel onto your card!

I laminated Distress Mica Flakes inside of a laminator sheet to make a frosted window effect, which looks AMAZING! Using Simon’s new Winter Florals watercolor cards (designed by Suzy Plantamura), I colored a beautiful panel that gets layered behind this clear window. This particular design is a tri-fold card, which creates a stunning effect for the recipient with all its layers and glitter.

The best part? This card is not bulky, so it will be easy for you to mail!

In addition to the watercolor cards, I also used the brand new Peace die, Slimline Christmas sentiment strips and the Snowy Pines sequin mix – all new items from the Holly Jolly release from Simon.

This technique was so much fun, I had to make a second card with the same idea!

I again used the Winter Florals watercolor card set to color in this poinsettia panel; over the panel is a window that has the same Distress Mica Flakes laminated into it.

For a greeting I paired the new Joy Script die and Let’s Make a Tag stamp set together for an elegant sentiment.

Imagine making all sorts of cards with this laminating technique! Fill your laminating sheets with other glitters or even flat sequins for a truly spectacular effect. I cannot wait to try this same idea on a shaker card next!

  107. Karla says:

I saw this technique recently done by a different you tuber and fell in love with it. For me, the hardest part is finding a book or something the same height as my laminator opening so I can lay the filled pouch on an even surface and let it get pulled into the laminator. The first few I had tried holding it, and failed. Which led to most of the glitter and assorted fillers heavy toward the bottom. However when done correctly, there is nuttin better.

    • Lindar C says:

I use a piece of chipboard underneath the laminating sheet for support. I feed the sheet in and hold the chipboard next to the opening for support while it feeds through the laminator.
