Rainbow Foiling with Stencils 4 Ways + Simon’s Celebrate You Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends! I am excited to be participating in the Celebrate You release blog hop that Simon Says Stamp is hosting today (and tomorrow too – it’s a 2 day hop)!
For my project, I’m actually sharing 4 cards, each foiling with the Confetti stencil. Throughout the cards I also feature other products in the Celebrate You release. I’m in need of birthday cards right now so all of my cards are birthday themed, but you could totally adjust the sentiments for other card types.
If you have already been hopping along with us, you should have arrived from my super-talented friend Cathy Zielske’s blog (she actually designed some of the products I am using today!). All the hop details can be found at the bottom of this post.
All of the cards use the same foiling technique for the backgrounds; I applied ThermoWeb Transfer Gel through the new Simon Says Stamp Confetti stencil. Once dry, I ran the stenciled backgrounds through my laminator with Shattered Rainbow foil (also from ThermoWeb). Afterwards, each card was decorated in its own unique way. Below are the details on what I used and how I finished them all!
Like I mentioned in the video, this one and the “oh happy day” card are my favorites! The greeting is cut using the Big Birthday Greetings die set; every letter is made from an entire rainbow of colored cardstocks, with a final layer of Holo Waves Mirror cardstock on top.
I popped the letters off the background, which is cut from the new Rounded Corner Rectangles. The card was then finished off with some sparkly embellishments from the Lucy’s Cards Razzle Dazzle mix.
Again with the stacked rainbow sentiments, this playful design features the Oh Happy Day tag die from CZ Design and Simon Says Stamp. I embellished this one with Groovy confetti pieces, and attached the background to a purple card base. You’ll notice I even tucked a bit of teal cardstock behind the Oh Happy Day tag for an extra pop of color!
You can watch a full step by step process on creating this particular card in the video at the top of this post.
All of today’s cards a definitely not lacking color! This bright one features a rainbow of sentiment strips; all of the embossed greetings are from the new CZ Design Stop Drop Party set, and the top, white glitter sentiment is cut with the complementing CZ Design die, HBD.
The base for this card is made from some bright yellow cardstock and I embellished the background with more of those awesome Razzle Dazzle confetti pieces! I think this one is truly a party on a card!
With the final card I created, I attempted to go a bit more masculine (or at least as masculine as you can get with a card full of color)! Incorporating quite a bit of gray helped to tone the color down a bit, and I used a geometric layout to keep things simple.
Using my paper trimmer, I cut a diagonal strip out of the confetti background and layered a panel over top that has some Big Birthday Greetings embossed on it; I added a masculine birthday greeting for the final sentiment along the bottom of that panel.
As with all the other cards, I used confetti in the background (the Groovy mix), but this time I also added some tiny silver stars here and there too.
I hope all of these colorful cards have inspired you to create with this fun, new collection from Simon Says Stamp!

I love the use of the transfer gel with the rainbow foil and, of course, the stacked, rainbow die cut letters. Thanks!!
WONDERFUL cards!
LOVE your RAINBOWS of HAPPY :)
THANK YOU for sharing and INSPIRING … the foil adds extra MAGIC and YES, it is worth the extra effort stacking the alphas!
PS – the magnets holding your stencil securely in place looks like my new MUST HAVE tool
I’ve done stacked die cuts for a long time, yet never thought to rainbow stack them. Thank you and I’m definitely goin to be doing that very soon. I also loved the diagonal cut background!
Fabulous! I especially love the rainbow stacked letters.
Fabulous cards Nina-Marie. So many wonderful products to choose from – it must have been difficult. Love the new SSS releases this May. I don’t know how you manage to stack your letters so perfectly – I can never get it quite right – but I love the effect and the sentiments look fantastic on your oh-so-pretty cards. Thanks so much for sharing with us all.
The stacked sentiments are perfect with all the rainbow foiled confetti. Thanks for sharing these great cards and for the helpful video!
I can’t get over how smart it was of you to layer the Happy Birthday letters with different coloured cardstock!!! It really looks like a rainbow cupcake. So sad that the holo waves card stock is sold out right now :(
The foil and confetti die makes a party! Lovely cards!
Such “happy” cards!
