Altenew Year In Review Blog Hop: My Favorites From 2018

Hello friends! The New Year is almost upon us, which is quite hard to believe! Today I am participating in Altenew’s Year In Review blog hop, taking a look back at some of our favorite projects that were created with Altenew products.

I have videos associated with many of these projects, which I have linked below along with the supplies used in each card. I hope you enjoy this look back through my favorite cards from 2018 featuring Altenew’s beautiful dies, stamps, stencils and more!

If you have already been hopping along with us, you should have arrived from Kymona Tracey’s blog!

Altenew Year In Review Blog Hop: My Favorites From 2018

This Christmas card was one of my favorite holiday cards for 2018.

It features the Holiday Bow stamp and die set, which included that stunning bow image. Altenew Crisp Inks work so well with the layering pieces to build the bow; I love the teal color contrasting against the reds and greens of the wreath. The entire card has that classic, Christmas feel!

You can read more about this card at this post, and below you can watch the video on how I made it!

Altenew Year In Review Blog Hop: My Favorites From 2018

I created this set of poinsettia cards at the same time that I made the card you saw above. It too features the Holiday Box set, which I really enjoyed using this year!

This time however I used the poinsettia stamps, along with other images from the stamp set. Those stamped floral elements worked together in forming a frame, bordering the top and bottom of the greeting I embossed in the center (the greeting is from the Blessings stamp set). The reason this card is one of my favorites is the fact that it is such a unique way to highlight a sentiment!

You can read more about this card at this post, and below you can watch the video on how I made it!

Another unique card design that I made with Altenew products was the gatefold, watercolor floral card I made with the Starry Flowers set!

Beyond making a gatedold, I stepped the design up a notch, which is partly why it is one of my favorites for 2018. The edges of the gatefolds are fussy cut; so instead of a straight edge, you end up with a beautiful card that helps accentuate the lovely flowers. This added so much interest to the finished card!

Altenew Year In Review Blog Hop: My Favorites From 2018

Alcohol Inks are a very fun and unpredictable medium to work with, making beautiful backgrounds. But have you ever tried using alcohol inks with stencils?

This unexpected effect carries a bold and abstract style; it looks amazing with Altenew’s City Scene stencil! Using just a simple dabbing technique, you can easily recreate this card.

One of the reasons why this card is one of my 2018 favorites, is that the technique is really quite fast to do and can be adapted to any stencil in your stash. I ended up using this technique on two other cards, which you can see here.

You can read more about this card at this post, and below you can watch the video on how I made it!

Yes I agree, that first card is a beautiful Christmas card! I like the muted/toned down background color, it allows the wreath colors to stand out.
