Newton’s Nook Reveal Day #1

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by for the June Newton’s Nook release; today we are revealing the new Garden Starter stamp and die sets.

This stamp set is very unique; I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like it before in the stamping world! I love the pretty florals included in it, and the frame stamp reminds me of both a seed packet and a stained glass window. With these two ideas in mind, I created the set of cards you see here…

Newton's Nook Reveal Day #1_1

Both cards are colored with Zig Clean Color brush markers; for all the coloring I blended things out with water and a paintbrush. Once the images were colored, I die cut the frames with the coordinating Garden Starter die set. I also fussy cut “happy birthday” sentiments that were gold heat embossed onto white cardstock.

On the card bases for each card I did some watercoloring. For the zinnia’s I did washes of pink color (using Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick distress inks); on the daisy card I used Tumbled Glass and painted stripes using a flat brush. I love how the soft appearance of both card bases lend to adding extra color and interest to the overall design.

To finish off the cards I added a bit of natural hemp from Hemptique; I love how thin the strands are, perfect for wrapping around a card without being bulky!
