Sunset Cityscape with Zigs + Distress Inks

Hello there friends! I am so happy you have stopped by today! I have a fun card to share with you featuring the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set and Zig Clean Color markers!

I love the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set; it’s one of my favorites! When I was creating this card I envisioned a fun cityscape below the big hot air balloon, so that it appeared as if Newton was looking down and daydreaming of a fun evening in Paris!

I started by stamping the balloons onto watercolor paper and coloring them with the Zig markers. I then fussy cut everything out and set them aside while I worked on the background.

For the background I started by stamping the Eiffel Tower onto the right side of the card; I then used Worn Lipstick and Mustard Seed distress inks to create an ink blended sunset sky. I added water droplets using my Distress Sprayer bottle and then dried everything well.

After the distress ink was dry, I used my Zigs once again to add in my city scene around the Eiffel Tower. I used dark gray markers for the buildings and then dark green for the trees (these are hand painted in). For the grassy hills in the foreground I used a couple of lighter markers as a base coat, so that they would be a bit lighter than the elements in the background. I added darker shading to the top portions of each grass hill for some dimension.

For my sentiment I chose to use the “bonjour” greeting and I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. And for final finishing touches, I used my Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen to added lots of shimmer on the balloons, as well as a bit of Glossy Accents and white gel pen details around the rest of the card.
