Scrapbook Circle Week with Neat & Tangled

Hello everyone, thanks so much for stopping by! Neat and Tangled is having a special collaboration week with Scrapbook Circle and today is my day to feature some of the fun goodies in the Scrapbook Circle October kit … be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this post, as I have a giveaway going on with this post!

 

 

As part of this special collaboration, Neat & Tangled has designed an exclusive stamp set called “Stories” and I have used the sentiment included in the set for my card.

I started off by white heat embossing the sentiment onto my watercolor paper. Using some Tim Holtz distress inks, I began creating a background using the ink smooshing technique.

My first smooshing of color was with Scattered Straw; I partially dried this ink and then moved on to my next color which was Peacock Feathers. Once the Peacock Feathers was somewhat dried, I layered on my last color, which was the Picked Raspberry. I only partially dried each color of ink because I wanted to let the colors mix with each other; as you can see by looking at the pictures, I was able to achieve some greens and purples in my watercolor background.

 

 

Because I wanted a gold theme used in this card, I took some of the cork leaves included in the kit and  heat embossed them in gold before apply a coating of Glossy Accents overtop.

To finish everything off, I layered some patterned paper from the kit, as well as some gold foil, behind my main panel. Some sequins from Neat & Tangled and Lucy’s Cards completed my design.
