Newton’s Nook Reveal Day #2 – Summer Scoops

Hello! I am so happy you’ve dropped by today, as I am sharing a card for the second day of the Newton’s Nook release week. Yesterday’s release was fabulous, with the sweet Newton asleep on his pile of cozy blankets!

Today’s reveal is on the “tasty” side of things and is an ice cream stamp set! When I saw this set I immediately thought of an ice cream parlor and I thought it would be fun to create a pink and white striped “awning” at the top of my card to bring in a bit of the classic parlor feel.

 

 

I started off by stamping the tall ice cream dish and four cherries in Memento ink and coloring it with Copic markers. I fussy cut the images out, and added some Wink of Stella glitter, some Rock Candy Distress Stickles and Glossy Accents to different parts of the images.

I then die cut a frame from white cardstock, layered some vellum behind it and attached craft foam on the back to create dimension. Before adhering the vellum to the frame, I did stamp and heat emboss the sentiment, which is also from the Summer Scoops stamp set. The entire frame element was then adhered to an ombre polka dot background that I created using a polka dot stencil, Peacock Feathers distress ink and embossing paste.

 

 

I layered some papers to create the awning, tied on a bit of baker’s twine, attached the ice cream and cherries to the frame, and finally added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins to create the effect of sprinkles.
