Die Cutting with Scraps + Altenew's January Die Release Blog Hop

Hello everyone, welcome to my stop in the Altenew January Release Blog Hop! If you are just joining in, you should have arrived from Enza Gudor’s blog. Today I am sharing some projects I made using the new release, plus a video!

My main project feature for this hop is the card I created with the Cube Cover die and the Caps Bold Alpha die set; both of these are new die sets from Altenew’s January release and I was super excited to work with them!

The Cube Cover die sports a very geometric and modern design, which I love because these types of dies make great cards for just about anyone! I cut the die from lots of cardstock scraps I had; a bonus, because it made a nice dent in my scrap stash!

The Caps Bold Alpha die set is a new favorite of mine, as I love a great letter die set; custom greetings are so much fun to add on your cards! I cut the top layer of these letters using a bit of Tonic Studios Silver Screen glitter cardstock; the shine is so pretty! The additional greeting I placed in between of my glittery letters is from the Heartfelt Sentiments stamp set, my absolute favorite greeting set from Altenew!

You can see how I created this card by watching the video above! In the video, I shared my tip for creating in lay die cut backgrounds like this in no time at all; if in lay die cutting seems daunting to you, I would encourage you to see how I did this one. It was really fast to put together!

Below is the complete list of supplies I used to make this card.

I created a few other projects with the new release! This one here with the stunning Peony Dream die set reminds me of a tropical paradise on a card! It was especially cold here when I made this card, so I enjoyed the warm feel of this design. I’ll be posting a full video tutorial on this card tomorrow morning, so make sure you come back here or visit my YouTube channel to see the creation-process!

I used a beautiful assortment of colored cardstocks from Colossal Colours collection from DoCrafts. The pack features multiple tones of the same hue, which makes this set of cardstock PERFECT for layering dies like Peony Dream! You may also notice the pretty watercolor background behind the flowers; this was created with the oh-so-pretty Watercolor Stripes die, also part of the new Altenew release. This die creates the perfect watercolor  background that looks like you actually painted it!

Again I used my favorite, Heartfelt Sentiments for the “prayers and hugs” greeting along the bottom of the card. For embellishment, I tucked a few Moonshine confetti sequins from Simon Says Stamp around my floral arrangement.

If you want to see the full supply list for this card, I have everything listed below. Also remember that I will be posting the video tutorial on this tropical-beauty tomorrow, January 11th; I hope you will stop back to see it!

The final project I have to share with you today is this delicate, thinking of you card. I adore the new Lace Edge border die from Altenew and thought it would look gorgeous as an ombre, lacy background! I cut the die with three colors of pink cardstock, and adhered them from darkest to lightest down the entire card front.

After building the background, I die cut a greeting with the new Thinking of You die (also from Altenew) from Tonic Studios’ Burnished Rose Mirror cardstock. The beautiful rose gold tint to this cardstock looked amazing with all the pinks on my card. I also did a bit of embellishing with Lucy’s Cards Ice Cube gems and Tonic Studios Nuvo Drops; Antique Rose and Ivory Seashell were the colors I used and helped carry the elegant feel of the design.
