Happy Friday everyone! Today is day two of the Simon Says Stamp Making Spirits Bright release blog hop, and I’m so thrilled you have stopped by. If you are already hopping along with us, you should have arrived from my talented friend Yana Smakula’s blog! However, if you are just joining in, you can find the entire hop list below!

For my card today, I wanted to use some of the gorgeous new dies from the release; O Holy Night and Holy Stars. Both of these pair so well together!

I die cut the stars from watercolor paper and painted both them and the background with my Daniel Smith and Winsor and Newton watercolors. To make the stars and the background more interesting, I also took some Prima Metallic Accents and added strokes, flecks and splatters. The Metallic Accents have a beautiful shimmer and when the paint catches the light, the shine is incredible!

The sentiment “O Holy Night” is cut from vellum and Tonic Studios’ Mirror Card in Satin Purple Mist. I have loved using the new Mirror cardstock and this purple color brings out the violet hues in the background.

For some final embellishing, I used some Tonic Nuvo Drops in the White Gloss color to create extra “stars” in the background. As a side note, the silver embossed stars you see there as well are from Simon’s Merry and Bright stamp set.

I hope you will be checking out the video below to see how I made the card, including the in-lay die cut background and the watercolor technique! Also remember to hop along with us in the Making Spirits Bright release blog hop! Details can be found below the video.

Thanks for visiting me today! I’ll be back very soon with more ideas to share!
