Hello everyone! I am taking part in a special “year in review” blog hop hosted by Altenew; if you have been already hopping with us, you should have arrived at Terhi Koskinen’s blog.

The basis of this hop is for each designer to look back at all of the projects created in 2017 and share the ones we loved most that used Altenew products! How fun is that?? I’ve got quite a few to share with you today – plus I’ve included all the videos too! – so let’s dive right in!

[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”none” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” sep_color=”” top_margin=”10px” bottom_margin=”10px” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” /][fusion_imageframe image_id=”14511″ style_type=”none” stylecolor=”” hover_type=”none” bordersize=”” bordercolor=”” borderradius=”” align=”none” lightbox=”yes” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”https://ninamariedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/nina-year-review-altenew-01.jpg” alt=”A Look Back: Altenew’s A Year in Review Blog Hop!” link=”” linktarget=”_self” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=””]https://ninamariedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/nina-year-review-altenew-01.jpg[/fusion_imageframe][fusion_separator style_type=”none” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” sep_color=”” top_margin=”10px” bottom_margin=”10px” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” /][fusion_text]

Let’s start with my top-four projects… Altenew kindly put together these collages for each guest in the hop, which feature our four most-favorite cards. Thanks Altenew!

[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”none” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” sep_color=”” top_margin=”10px” bottom_margin=”10px” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” /][fusion_imageframe image_id=”13511″ style_type=”none” stylecolor=”” hover_type=”none” bordersize=”” bordercolor=”” borderradius=”” align=”none” lightbox=”yes” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”https://ninamariedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Altenew_Stacked-Die-Cuts-1.jpg” alt=”A Look Back: Altenew’s A Year in Review Blog Hop!” link=”” linktarget=”_self” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=””]https://ninamariedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Altenew_Stacked-Die-Cuts-1.jpg[/fusion_imageframe][fusion_separator style_type=”none” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” sep_color=”” top_margin=”10px” bottom_margin=”10px” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” /][fusion_text]

The first card in my collage is this one here that features the gorgeous Altenew Rose Filament dies and a layered die cutting technique. I also included stamped images and sentiments from the More Than Words and Floral Shadow stamp sets. And that stunning “love” die cut? That’s from the Script Words die set.

The fun thing about this card was that it was inspired by an apron! You can see how it inspired my design by watching the video below. You can also see the full post featuring this card HERE.

Christmas may be almost here, but who doesn’t love a fun holiday idea? I loved how this Christmas card turned out, with the intricate layered stamping that was easy-peasy thanks to the Majestic Mistletoe stamp set. Would you believe I used a total of just four shades of ink to do the stamping?? The ink is also from Altenew; colors used were Frayed Leaf, Olive and Evergreen for the leaves and some Ruby Red.

See how effortless the stamp layering is by watching the video below! You can also see the full post that this card was featured in by clicking HERE.

I’m a big fan of alcohol markers, so when Altenew came out with their latest colors of Artist Markers, I was thrilled! This set of sunny-cards I created with both the Artist Markers and colored pencils; the daisies are from the Spring Daisy Altenew stamp set. I started off the project at a retreat; then came home and finished the card! I loved how it turned out and then created a second version on camera to show you how I did it.

By combining the markers and pencils together, you get an amazingly-detailed effect. To see what I mean, make sure you check out the video below! You can also see the full post for this card set HERE.

At the same time I created the Merry & Bright card above, I also shared inspiration using another Altenew layering set called Layered Laurel. I love experimenting with color, so I went a bit wild and used bright pinks and purples to ink up these leaf images! I chose to use Midnight Violet, Rubellite, Pink Diamond and Frosty Pink, with the darkest colors being stamped first. When I added the lighter colors on top of the darker, it created a stunning “ghost” effect!

I did not film the creation process of this card, but you can see a close-up look at it in the release walk-through video I had created at the time. You can also see the full post for this card HERE.

This card here spurned from a obsession of the Rose Filament die set; it is still one of my most-favorite die sets! I used Copic markers to color in the roses and I layered them onto a kraft card base with Nuvo Drops. The Birthday Greetings Altenew stamp set paired perfectly with the word “happy” from the Your Next Stamp  Bold Happy Birthday Words die set.

If you want to see a close up look at this card, you can find it featured (amongst two other cards I shared) in the video below. The full post for this card can be found HERE.

Another one of my favorite cards featuring Altenew products was definitely this card here! This one uses the at-the-time-STAMPtember-exclusive, Fabulous You (now sold out; STAMPtember is an annual Simon Says Stamp online-event celebrating stamping). If you were one of the lucky people who got the set, this is a fun way to use it! If you did not get it, a great substitute would be Altenew’s Sketchy Floral stamp set.

This technique of coloring on glitter paper used Altenew Artists Markers and Simon Says Stamp’s White Glitter cardstock; the result is an incredible, velvet-like finished to the stamped images!

See the technique in action by watching the video below! You can also see the full post for this card HERE.

Sticking with the shiny theme here a bit longer, I also wanted to make sure I included one of my favorite foiling projects of the year! This “distressed” foil effect turned out even better than I had hoped when I had the idea. You know how sometimes foiling comes out a bit imperfect and we are tempted to toss out the project right then and there? Well I wanted to see how I could embrace imperfect foiling!

This card features Altenew’s stunning Big Rose stencil and I applied ThermOWeb Transfer Gel onto it using an ink blending tool. The foil is a gorgeous Amethyst Watercolor foil from ThermoWeb, which really matched nicely with the distress effect.

See how I made imperfect foiling WORK in this video below! You can also see the full post (with additional project ideas!) by clicking HERE.

Okay, one more card to share with you! This final project also features some distressing, but a bit different from the card above!

Have you ever created a faux watercolor effect using Distress Inks? It’s super fun, plus quick and easy (perfect for last minute cards that you want to look like you slaved away for hours painting!). I used Altenew’s Simple Fruits stamp set and mixed and matched a few other images from the Floral Shadow and Peony Bouquet sets.

See the Distress watercolor stamping technique in action by watching the video below. You can see the full post for this card by clicking HERE.

I really hope you enjoyed this look back at these Altenew cards that I’ve made during 2017; I have to say, looking at these previously-designed cards, it’s helped inspire me with fresh, new ideas for 2018! Thanks to all of you who have been along on this amazing ride with me during 2017… I am excited to see you continue along into the new year for more crafty-adventures!
