Hello crafty friends! I am very excited to be here with you today, as I am showcasing some of the products from Simon Says Stamp’s new Advent Plus release!

This mini-release is a lead-up to the holiday season AND the Die-Cember festivities (which start on Dec. 1st!!!). I am excited to not only share inspiration with you using the new products, but also news that I designed all the stamps and dies included in this release! You can check them all out below:

The stamps and dies in this collection are built to be used together or individually, allowing you to build your own custom Advent Calendars! The Advent Icons stamp set is perfect for also using on cards or in planners; my friend and fellow Simon team member Wanda Guess created an ADORABLE card on her blog today that illustrates that point perfectly (she combined both the Christmas Town and the Advent Icon sets together); check out her card HERE.

I will be sharing inspiration using the Advent Calendar dies and stamps together to build a actual Advent Calendar this weekend, so I hope you will stop by to see that! There is also an AMAZING Simon Says Stamp release blog hop happening on the 19th (Saturday), which will feature inspiration using not only this Advent Plus release, but also inspiration featuring the Merry & Bright December Card Kit and the Special Edition Holiday Card Kit too! I also have a video posting on Friday for the Special Edition card kit release, so I hope you will stop by for that too (it’s a very busy week, huh??)!

So now how about some inspiration?? This card uses the Christmas Town stamp set to make a sweet holiday scene… reminds me a bit of a quintessential New England village, all decked out for the Christmas season.

I stamped the images onto Strathmore watercolor paper using a waterproof ink from Simon Says Stamp. Because I love to watercolor, I used the Zig Clean Color real brush markers to do the watercoloring for my images. The coloring process was relatively simple; I used only one color for each shade of marker and I used a more limited color palette to make sure my images where all cohesive in appearance. I then fussy cut all the pieces out using some fine tip scissors.

Next came the fun part; building the scene! I wanted to do something a bit “non-traditional” with this card, so I made the card itself very long; the finished size is 8 3/4″ by 4 1/4″ altogether. I created a long background panel (watercolor paper) to build my scene upon, and I first applied Distress Inks onto the panel to be my sky. The colors I used were Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon. I also added in a bit of shimmer to the sky using the Finetec gold watercolor palette. For the snowy ground I used white paint so that it would have an opaque, textured appearance.

The images I colored are attached on the background using a combination of liquid glue and foam tape. This created depth to the card design, which helps it feel more realistic.

I added a sentiment to the sky using the Merry Christmas script die from Simon Says Stamp, which was die cut from watercolor paper and painted with the Finetec gold watercolors, creating a metallic gold sheen that I think looks perfect against the sky. I also used some Ranger white enamel accents to add snowfall in the sky. The entire scene was then adhered to a shimmer cardstock card base.

This card is definitely harder to mail because of the size… but for a special friend or family member, I think it would be perfect to include with a gift! I hope this has been inspiring to you and gave you some fun ideas to incorporate into your own card making… and also make sure you check out the ENTIRE Simon Says Stamp Advent Plus release below!

What a beautiful card, wow! That night sky is so pretty with all of the colors you used, along with the placement and design of the buildings and trees, and overall size of the card, love it! Before I read that you had fussy cut all of the images out, I looked to see if there were matching dies for this set, that’s how good it looks! All of your cards are adorable!
