Neat & Tangled Release Week: Day 3

Hi there crafty friends! Welcome back to the third day of the Neat & Tangled October release! Are you enjoying this month’s release as much as I am???!!!

releaseweek-01

Today we are releasing some more fun stamp and die sets and I’ve used the Cowbell stamp set to create a playful birthday card!

Apparently “cowbell” is a popular catchphrase… I never heard of it before though so I had to look it up and find out what it actually meant! Haha!

I stamped the cowbell image multiple times around a piece of watercolor paper and then used my Zig Clean Color markers to create a loose, watercolor look. I think messy watercoloring is really fun to create and adds a lot of interest to a simple design.

There is a lot going on in this card, so I needed to create a way to add separation to the sentiment from the background. To do this, I added some white ink blending around where the sentiment was going to be placed; the ink I used was Unicorn White from Hero Arts.

Doing this allowed me to be able to stamp the sentiment in both blue and gray dye inks and kept the sentiments from becoming “lost” in the background.

To finish the card off, I added some splatters of pewter Distress Spray, and covered those splatters with Glossy Accents for a bit of shine and dimension. The watercolor panel is also mounted onto gray cardstock and a gray cardbase.

I love how the pewter distress spray with the glossy accents looks! I’ve never thought of trying such a technique. It really gives a neat effect. I’ve heard of the cowbell saying, but it never made sense to me.

    Cute way to use the
    stamp. Did you know
    that the cowbell is
    used at sporting
    events? Really loud,
    obnoxious sound!
    Love it.

Great card–the cowbell looks wonderful watercolored! I remember this SNL skit and it’s so funny. I love that they made a stamp set from it.
