Colored Vellum Shaker
Happy Thursday everyone! Today I am showcasing new stamps and dies from the Simon Says Stamp Spring Plush release that has just gone live today!
For my card I’ve used the new (and darling!) Plush Springtime Chick dies, as well as the adorable Cute Chicks stamp set (created in collaboration with Neat & Tangled). You can see the entire release here.
I have used these products to create a colored vellum shaker piece. The plush dies are meant to be used with felt, but I wanted to show you how they can be used with other products as well!
Coloring vellum is a fun way to customize the color to fit your project or the look you are going for. I have a few colored vellum papers, but personally I prefer and use my classic vellum most often. I can quickly customize the color if needed using some inks (or even Copics), without having to take up space in my craft room with all sorts of extra products. The vellum I use for all my projects is Bazzill 40lb.
I’ve also used sequins from Pretty Pink Posh inside my little chick for the shaker bits; I love how the sequins add some fun texture and sparkle through the vellum. Its a fun combination! :)
Many people also ask me how I store my sequins… I use the Bead Storage Solutions Tiny Container Tray, which is a large, lidded tray that holds over 80 small containers (you may notice them in today’s video). I did a video recently showcasing how I use the storage container. If you are interested in learning more about the container, you might want to watch it.
And if you’re curious about how I created this entire card, I’ve put together a video for you! Be sure to watch it below or over on my YouTube channel! If you enjoy the video, please give it a “thumbs up” and subscribe to my channel… I have new videos coming out every week.

New to your blog. This super cute card brought me here and couldn’t wait to comment to say that the card is
adorable! I also learned that you can successfully color vellum and the tip about the clear tak that can’t be seen through vellum. YAY! Finally an answer to a very frustrating problem. Thank you!!
Simply adorable! Love how you created the cloudy sky with the two colors. Really gave dimension to the background.
Great card! Love the chick! The background turned out great too…who would’ve thought to use a flower stencil to make a fluffy cloud background…genius!
