Simon Says Back to School

Hello! I am here today with a card that I have created as a guest designer for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!

This week’s theme is “Back to School”, and for my card, I have chosen to create this fun, “nerdy” card, which would be great to give to a favorite high school or college student!

I started off by doing some masking and stamping onto white cardstock, using the Taylored Expressions Smarty Pants stamp set and create the owl sitting on top of the pile of books. I also stamped a second set of books, as well as a pencil and some crumpled paper, both from the Mama Elephant Three Amigos stamp set. All of my images are colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out.

To create the black board, I did some partial die cutting with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies to create the “wood” frame, and layered some black cardstock behind the frame. Some patterned paper was attached to the bottom of the chalkboard.

For some details, I embossed my sentiment from the Talk Nerdy to Me stamp set (also by Taylored Expressions), added some chalk writing with a white pencil, and some woodgrain texture with my Copics.

I adhered all my fussy cut images to the chalkboard scene and added a bit of ground to the card base to help finish it all off.
