Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop

For my card as part of the blog hop, I chose to work with the absolutely adorable Smarty Pants stamp set by Taylored Expressions. I love the sweet, nerdy images in this set, and thought it might be fun to use the dog in a fun and unexpected way.

I started off by watercoloring my background using Derwent pencils. I love these pencils because of the vibrancy of color you can achieve with them… isn’t it just fabulous?? :) I scribbled  each pencil color that I wanted to use onto my watercolor paper, in an ombre/rainbow pattern, letting the scribbles overlap each other just slightly.

With a clean jar of water and a paint brush, I then watercolored and blended all my scribbled colors together… and oh don’t you just love it?! Once my panel was dry, I then scored a frame around the edges and white heat embossed a sentiment from the WPlus9 Unforgettable stamp set.

On a piece of cardstock, I stamped the cute dog from the Smarty Pants stamp set twice, the second time masking off the word “physics” and instead taking the word “sorry” from the Unforgettable set, and stamping it in its place. On this second masked/stamped image, I was only going to be using the book.

I then colored my dog and my book with Copic markers and fussy both images out. I then adhered the book overtop of the first stamped image and added a party hat to the dog, which is also from the Unforgettable stamp set.

Finally, I adhered the dog onto my background panel using foam tape, layered the panel onto some cardstock and my card base, and scattered a few sequins from the Ton and Pretty Pink Posh around the card as well.
