Watercolored Thanks

Watercolored Than You_2

Hello! I am so happy you’ve stopped by today, as I have a sweet watercolored thank you card to share with you!

I love watercoloring; I’ve been doing it for a number of years, and up until recently when I began Copic coloring, watercolor was my main color medium. For this card, I thought I would use the Lawn Fawn Into the Woods stamp set and do some no-line watercoloring.

I started off by stamping the little deer image included in the Into the Woods set, onto some watercolor paper using a second generation of the Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink. I chose this distress ink because it is light colored and reacts well with water.

Using some Derwent watercolor pencils and a fine tip paintbrush, I watercolored the deer and then free-hand watercolored the grass, hills, sky and hearts to create the scene.

After my image was dry, I took a white paint pen and added some white details to the scene, and also stamped the “thank you” sentiment from the Hero Arts Everyday Sayings stamp set with some Staz On ink.

I layered the scene onto some scalloped cardstock, and then onto my card base, which was covered with some patterned papers. The patterned papers had been die cut with the Spellbinders Pierced Squares dies; I did some partial die cutting to get the pierced circles all the way around the edges evenly.

I also added a bit of Wink of Stella glitter to the scene, and tied a pink ribbon around the bottom portion of the card, and that finished everything off!

I love the way this turned out, the softness of the watercolor is just so pretty. I hope you’ve enjoyed this little project, and thanks so very much for stopping by! :)

This card is submitted into the Lawnscaping Challenge #105 “Watercolors”, and the Kraft Journal “Take Your Pick” challenge (I used pink, ruffles, stamped and feminine).
