Layered Die Cuts

Hello! I’m playing around with some Spellbinders die cuts today to create a sweet, layered baby card.

One of my sweet and talented friends, Yana Smakula is a master at layering die cuts. Her style is just beautiful, and she always achieves such wonderful results! Yana was my inspiration for part of my layering in this card, particularly this card she made recently for Spellbinders. Be sure to check it out on her blog, as well as all her other gorgeous cards!

So to create my card, I first started off by coloring the focal image of my card, which is this brand new bunny digi stamp, illustrated by another sweet friend of mine, Lia Visirin. I printed it out onto watercolor paper and using my Derwent watercolor pencils I colored in the image. Once the image was colored, I fussy cut the bunny out and set it aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

Using the Spellbinders Tranquil Moments die set, I die cut one of the labels six times from white cardstock. I layered four of them together, and drew on some grass with Copic markers (G21, G99, YG03 and YG67), and inked the sky with some Peacock Feathers distress ink. The vellum die cut behind this label stack is fussy cut from the large frame die included in the Tranquil Moments set.

I stamped the sentiment “congratulations”, from the Cindy Etchinaw Big and Small Says it All stamp set, onto a white cardstock banner and adhered it to my label. The bunny was then adhered on top with foam tape, and a ribbon bow was layered on as well.

My card base is created from white cardstock and inked with Cracked Pistachio distress ink. I scored a double frame around the card, and did some paper piercing as well.  I then layered the other two labels in each of the corners of the card base, for some added interest and texture.

Once I finished putting the card together, the final touches included a bit of Wink of Stella glitter and a scattering of white pearls.

I really like the soft feel of this card, and I hope you’ve enjoyed! I’m so happy you’ve stopped by today, and I will be back again soon with more crafty goodness! :)

Happy Creating!
