Saying Hello

Happy Wednesday! I’m back to share with you a one layer floral card, featuring the Altenew “Vintage Roses” stamp set.

These stamps are so much fun to use, with their layerable images that can be stamped and left as-is, or… you do as I love to do and add even more shading and definition to your image with just a few shades of whatever color medium you like best!

Saying Hello_1a

I began by prepping my card base for the stamping I was going to be doing… First, I scored a frame around the card using my scoring board (I love doing this!). Then, with some Post-It notes, I masked off the outer edges of the frame, so that I could keep that white.

With three shades of turquoise pigment inks, I stamped my three flowers in the bottom right of the masked area. Then, taking the solid image of each flower stamp I used, I stamped them onto some more Post-Its to create masks so that I could stamp my leaves.

Once all my stamping was done, I used my Derwent watercolor pencils to add extra shading details to my flowers and leaves, blending the shading and the inks with a damp paint brush. With my damp paintbrush, I also picked up color from the pencils and added multiple layers of color dots for the background. To do this I worked in small sections and would lay down some dots of color, and then blot up the intense pigment with a dry cloth, and add some more dots over top, blotting up the darkest color once again.

Removing the masks, I stamped the sentiment using stamps from the Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings” and the Simon Says Stamp “Summer Garden” sets. The inks I’ve used are StazOn Jet Black ink, and Versamark ink, heat set with silver embossing powder.

I inked the embossed frame with some gray pigment ink, and added Wink of Stella glitter to the outside areas of the frame, as well as to the darkest shadows of the flowers and leaves.

And that completes the card for today… I hope you’ve enjoyed and thanks so very much for stopping by!
