Shaped Shaker Card

Happy Sunday! I am so glad you’ve stopped by, as I have a fun shaker card to share with you… in the shape of some sunglasses! I thought it would be really fun to make this card a little bit more unique and have the shakers be the inside of the glasses… so with my idea in mind, I went to work inside my Silhouette Studio!

I’ve created a video on how I put my card together, but I wanted to quickly touch on the building process I went through to create the pieces inside my Silhouette Studio. I use the Designer Edition, so there are a few steps that those with the Basic version cannot do in the exact way as how I did it, but it is still able to be created within the Basic software.

To begin, I opened and resized the following files:

  • the glasses (from the “Nerdy Valentine Owl” cut file by Miss Kate Cuttables); resized to a width of 7.4″, with the lock aspect ratio on.
  • the “genius” sentiment (from the Scrapbook and Cards Today “Summer 2014″ digital file); resized to a width of 3.75”,  with the lock aspect ratio on.
  • four stars (from the Scrapbook and Cards Today “Summer 2014″ digital file); resized to a width of 1.25 (large star), 0.9″ (medium star), and 0.8” (small star; make two). The lock aspect ratio was on when resizing all of these stars.

Once all my files were open and resized, I created a 0.6″ offset for my glasses, which I then duplicated and used as my card front and back.

I also created an offset for the lenses of the glasses, which I cut from acetate to be placed inside the shaker windows. The offset was 0.125″ larger than each lens.

Now that I had all my pieces built, I went ahead and created the card… I have a video of the card building process for you today, and I hope you enjoy! Be sure to give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed! You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can be sure not to miss more upcoming card making videos!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
