Hello

Hi everyone!

So glad you’ve stopped by for this bright hello card, with colors inspired by the newest Runway Inspired challenge. When I saw this week’s photo at RIC, I knew I wanted to incorporate the showcased yellows, teals and grays into my design and thought a cloud themed card would be a really fun way to do this!

Hello_2

The stamps I am using today are from the Avery Elle “Weather It” stamp set and the American Crafts “Serendipity” stamp set from the Dear Lizzy collection. I began by stamping my clouds onto some watercolor paper and colored them with Heidi Swapp Gold and Mint color shines and a paintbrush. To create and gold clouds, I mixed the gold color shine with some Wild Honey Tim Holtz distress ink before coloring the cloud.

Once my clouds were colored and dried, I fussy cut them out and lined the edges with a black marker, just to clean them up and make them appear more finished.

Moving on to the card base, I used a mixture of distress inks and Perfect Pearls to create the splatter background. I mixed Wild Honey ink with Perfect Gold powder, and Peacock Feathers with Perfect Pearl powder. To make the paintable mixture, I smooshed some ink onto a non stick craft sheet, dropped a small amount of the powder into the ink and spritzed it with water. Mixing it all together with a damp paintbrush creates a pearlized ink that is perfect for this splatter effect, and for watercoloring.

Once my card base was dry, I took the “hello” stamp from the American Crafts “Serendipity” set and stamped it in three generations of some black StazOn ink. I chose StazOn for this card because I was still planning on doing some more watercoloring on this card, and did not want to have my sentiment’s ink run.

Hello_3

With the heart cluster stamp from the Avery Elle “Weather It” set, I masked off all but one of the hearts and stamped them around my card base in StazOn ink. I then watercolored them with Peacock Feathers, Wild Honey and a green tone that I created by mixing the two inks together.

Because I wanted to keep this card in a more “modern” look, keeping clean lines in everything, I chose to use some twine over ribbon for some embellishment. I tied the twine around the card in a crossing pattern, keeping it about a quarter of an inch away from the edges of the card. I then adhered the clouds to my card; all were adhered with regular adhesive, with the exception  of the two larger clouds, which I attached using foam tape.

Hello_1

I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter to my hearts and finally, I scattered some light green and clear rhinestones around the card to finish it all off.

I love how sparkly this card is; with all the color shine, Perfect Pearls, Wink of Stella and rhinestones, this card really shimmers! I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy Creating!  :)
