Happy Friday everyone! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by today!

Today I am featuring a paper pieced birthday card using products from Paper Smooches “Stamptember 2014” stamp set, and the “Balloons” wise dies. I absolutely love the little turtle image and wanted to have him be the star of this design…

I began by stamping the turtle onto a piece of white cardstock and a bunch of patterned paper before fussy cut everything out. The white cardstock turtle acts as my base and guide, and all of the patterned paper pieces are adhered on top of the cardstock. For my adhesive I used a Zig glue pen, as this works very well in adhering small pieces together.

Once my turtle was stamped, I began working on the other pieces for my card; I die cut a bunch of balloons from white cardstock, as well as three from patterned paper. The white balloons are adhered to my card base to create a faux embossed look, and the patterned balloons are covered in Wink of Stella glitter and Glossy Accents before attached to the card base with foam tape. The stars are from a mini punch I had in my stash.

For extra detail, I tied some gray baker’s twine around each balloon; I left the red and yellow balloon strings “loose” while the teal balloon string is tied around a tail I made for the turtle.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink and embossed in black powder. I then some loose fussy cutting around the sentiment and adhered it to my card base with foam tape.

To finish off the card, I added a bit of white details on the turtle with a gel pen, and scattered some sequins and gems around the balloons and turtle.

I love how happy this little turtle looks… like he’s ready to have some fun celebrating someone’s birthday! I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card… Happy creating!
