Stinkin’ Cute

Hello Everyone!

I am back with a fun little card using some stamps from the Sweet Stamp Shop’s “Stinky Skunk” stamp set. Love this cute little skunk… he’s pretty adorable if you ask me! :)  The layout of my card is inspired by the My Favorite Things current sketch challenge and I’ve paired it with some bright patterned papers from the Craft Smith’s Blackberry Lemon paper collection.

I began by stamping the skunk onto some watercolor paper with StazOn Jet Black ink, as I wanted to color the skunk in with some Tim Holtz distress inks. The colors I chose were Iced Spruce, Black Soot and Worn Lipstick. Once my image was colored, I drew on the smile and eyebrows on the skunk to make him appear more “happy” before fussy cutting him out. I also attached a die cut heart using the Paper Smooches “Tiny Hearts” wise dies.

Using an ink blending tool, I sponged some Peacock Feathers distress ink onto a cardstock panel to create a sky. The clouds are stamped onto vellum using the speech bubble included in the “Stinky Skunk” set; I simply connected the open space with a black multiliner and fussy cut them out.

I then stamped the ground and grass, using stamps from the Sweet Stamp Shop’s “Stinky Skunk” and the Inky Antic’s “Turtle” sets; the grass is stamped in Mowed Lawn distress ink, and the ground is stamped in some brown pigment ink.

The banner uses some sentiment stamps from the same “Stinky Skunk” set, and are stamped in black dye ink. The heart that I added to the sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp “Soaring for You” stamp set, as it was the perfect size for this particular piece. I also wrapped some pink twine around the ends of the banner and tied it together.

To finish off the card, I added some faux stitching (you can probably tell I love to do this! haha!), and my all-time favorite glitter, Wink of Stella, to portions of the card. I also covered the skunk’s eyebrows, nose and hearts with Glossy Accents to add a bit of extra dimension.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on the My Favorite Things sketch challenge! Thank you so much for stopping by!
