Creating With White Space

Happy Saturday! So glad you’ve stopped by today! With the snow falling outside today, it seems appropriate that the card I will be sharing with you today features lots of white. Working with white space can be tricky, but with the utilizing and understanding of textures, layers and dimension, you can create beautiful cards of white.

For the card I’ve created, I wanted to have a very elegant feel as this is a wedding or engagement card; using the silver and white together helped me achieve that effect. To begin, I created the heart balloons with the Simon Says Stamp “Celebration Time” die set… love these balloons, as they are perfect for all sorts of occasions and come in various sizes that also coordinate with the “Celebrate” stamp set.

Since I did not have a glitter paper in the color that I wanted for this project, I ended up creating my own paper using some glitter tape that I adhered in strips, side by side, onto some white cardstock. It’s a good workaround when you don’t have the right shade you’re looking for! :) Once the paper was ready, I die cut three heart balloons and also the word “congrats” from the “Cake and Congrats” die set, also by Simon Says Stamp.

Before adhering my balloons to my vellum panel, I tied some white thread around each balloon and glued the thread to the vellum once I attached the balloons.

The card base is created by running the Sizzix “Lots of Love” texture plate through my Big Shot on a heavyweight cardstock A2 notecard. I covered each heart with some Wink of Stella glitter before adhering the vellum panel.

To finish this card off I also die cut some hearts from some pink pearlized metallic paper (from the DCWV Luxury Stack) using the Paper Smooches “Tiny Hearts” die set.

I love the softness this card has by pairing the vellum sheet with the rest of the card. It gives great separation for the balloons to stand out off the paper and really take the spotlight!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the card for today! Thanks for stopping by!
