Workshop Wednesday: Its a Boy!

Oh Baby!_7Happy Wednesday Everybody!

I am so glad you’ve stopped by for another Workshop Wednesday in which I have three special cards to share with you! Today’s focus is all about baby cards… So let’s start with part one!

Welcome Baby Boy

My first card I created was made with a baby boy in mind. The layout for this was inspired by the Mojo Monday’s Challenge 380 sketch. I turned the sketch onto it’s side and replaced the two horizontal layers with my row of houses and my clouds. The vertical layer was replaced with the “welcome baby” sentiment to hold that area. This may be a creative spin on this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch, but I like to add my own touch to things! :)

I started off by cutting a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/5″ card base from white cardstock. Taking a scoring board and a stylus, I created some score lines (spaced a 1/2″ apart) to make a crosshatched dry embossed background. Taking an ink blending tool and some distress ink, I colored a small area of my card for the “sky”.

Using the Simon Says Stamp “Celebrate” stamp set and some Jet Black StazOn ink, I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner of the card. I also used the “Soaring for You” stamp set to stamp the little black heart and bi-plane, and the little clouds which are adhered to the card with dimensional foam tape.

With a Two Pea’s In A Bucket digital cut file, I cut the row of houses out with my Silhouette Cameo and colored them with distress inks and an ink blending tool. I also adhered some yellow paper behind all the windows on each of the houses to create the idea of light inside.

Oh Baby!_8Moving on to the inside, I added the “lots of love” sentiment, again using the “Celebrate” and “Soaring for You” stamp sets. As you may know, the word “love” in that particular font, doesn’t exist in either of these two stamp sets. I did some selective stamping with the stamps included in the “Celebrate” set and created the “love” word for this particular sentiment.

To finish off this very clean and simple card, I tied a blue baker’s twine bow around the fold of the card, and added some Wink of Stella glitter to the clouds and row of houses.

I absolutely love that little bi-plane! It adds just the right amount of masculine touch to this card to make it perfect for welcoming that brand-new, handsome little boy into your family! :) Be sure to check out part two and part three (later on) of today’s Workshop Wednesday… Thanks for stopping by!
