Mixing It Up!

Mixing It Up_2Happy Monday, Everyone!

I’m sure all of you have a collection of stamps; whether they are rubber, cling, clear or even digital. The image selections endless… I think there is a stamp for pretty much anything these days! Today I decided to combine two different stamp types into one image; a digi stamp and some clear stamps.

Because my theme was going to be a “birthday card”, I chose the Girl with Balloon digi stamp from the LiaStampz “Valentine’s Mice” collection, and a cupcake stamp from the “Cupcake Birdy” stamp set by Inky Antics.

Printing the mouse onto cardstock, I took the cupcake and stamped it in some black ink so that the girl mouse was sitting “on top” of the cupcake. So cute!! :)

Once the images were stamped, I did some quick watercoloring to these images; because regular cardstock isn’t made for handling a lot of water, you have to be very simple with your coloring. Use a medium amount of water, and move quickly! Don’t fuss with it, and don’t worry about getting fancy; for shading, try using some watercolor pencils, which will help add some depth to your image.

Mixing It Up_1After my images were colored, I stamped the purple dots using the confetti cluster from the Simon Says Stamp “Celebrate” stamp set, and flicked on some pink ink splatters. I also stamped the “Happy Birthday” onto a piece of patterned paper and cut it into a banner shape. Cutting a slit along the edge of the balloon, I slipped the end of the banner inside and adhered it to my panel.

The mouse panel is layered onto a piece of turquoise patterned paper from the American Crafts “With Love” paper pack. This piece is then layered upon my card base with dimensional foam tape. The card base is covered in some patterned paper from the “Charming Charlotte” collection by Craft Smith. A purple ribbon is tied in a knot-bow along the left side of the card.

To add a bit of sparkle to this card, I used some Wink of Stella clear glitter and applied it to the ballon, the cupcake icing, and the purple confetti dots. I also added some Glossy Accents over the balloon, the girl’s eyes and nose, and on the sprinkles of the cupcake. Some white faux stitching finishes off the card.

I love how sweet this card turned out… the girl mouse sitting on top of the cupcake is adorable, and the colors make for a perfect little-girl’s birthday card. I hope you enjoyed!
