Babies, Birthdays and Love

Hello All!

I don’t know about you, but I like to keep a stash of cards around for a wide variety of occasions… this way I have something to fall back on if I don’t have enough time to create a card when I need one at the last minute! Birthdays, holidays, love you’s, thank you’s, sympathy, feel better soon… the occasions for a card are endless! Today I have three topics to share with you; baby, birthday and love. So let’s get started!

Hello Baby_2When it comes to baby cards, I love using adorable little birds and animals in bright happy colors. I stamped the “hello” sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. The rest of the sentiment, “baby”, was done in my own handwriting for a bit of a “handmade touch”, and paired well with the large bold letters above it. I then stamped the two little birds (that are so cute!) in black waterproof ink before watercoloring in hues of yellow, pink and green. Layers of bright patterned papers and a happy green ribbon “tie off” the card nicely.

Happy Birthday to You_3Birthday’s are a special time of year… and this calls for specially made cards! The Penny Black “Paint the Town” stamp set has the cutest mouse image included in it; holding up a cake as big as he is… too sweet! :) I stamped the mouse in brown waterproof ink and colored him in with a rainbow of colors, and heat embossed a birthday greeting in gold embossing powder. Paired with a fairly neutral background, the mouse and sentiment really pop off the card and add the perfect splash of color. For some added depth, I inked all the edges of my card panels with a medium gray pigment ink; the result created a sort of “shadowed” effect, and helps finish off the card nicely.

Love You Kitty_1

You can never say “I love you” too many times to the special people in your life… staying away from the typical frilly hearts and flowers, I used this adorable cat stamp (with the most lovable smile on its face!), as part of my scene in this card. With a tag as the base for the focal point, I layered, fussy cut and paper pieced together a happy, sunny scene… and not to worry, I didn’t get away from the hearts altogether! :) I tucked a couple hearts in the design, punching a heart into the cloud, and stamping a heart in the sentiment as well. The tag was then layered upon white papers, and I splashed on some droplets of brown ink as well, for a bit of interest.

I hope this has inspired your creativity to help you make some wonderful cards for all those special occasions life has to offer! Enjoy, and Happy Sunday!
